Sport

Sport plays a central role in the daily life of the school. The school has strong links with the local GAA club, Ballyboden St Enda’s, and Boden Óg is active in the school teaching football, hurling and camogie skills to children from Junior Infants to Second Class.

The school takes part in Cumann na mBunscol competitions in football, hurling and camogie. Parents help to train the teams and organise matches for us, and we greatly appreciate their support.

Children from Fourth to Sixth Class take part in rugby training with a coach from Leinster Rugby during a term of school.

Physical Education

The school also participates in the 5-a-Side Soccer Competition organised by the Football Association of Ireland (FAI). This competition provides an opportunity for boys and girls from Fourth to Sixth Class to compete against schools of a similar size
from across Dublin. Successful teams progress to the Leinster stages, competing against schools from throughout the province, with the National Finals taking place at the iconic Aviva Stadium.

Children also participate in the Santry athletics competitions and local community games.

There is also lots of sport and fun on Sport’s Day. We have many sport’s facilities in our school. We have a large hall where various sports and activities take place, such as hockey, badminton, basketball and Irish dancing classes. We also have two outdoor basketball courts.

There is park located beside the school, and this is where the football and hurling teams train. Sometimes Cumann na mBunscol matches are also played there too.
