Is fiú go mór sos ón obair bhaile a thógaint go minic i rith an lae agus tabhairt faoi ghníomhartha suimiúla. Beimid ag iarraidh moltaí, comhairlí agus tuairimí a chur ar fáil ar an leathanach seo.

Múinteoir Sorcha 30/ 03/ 2020 – 03/ 04/ 2020

Dia daoibh Rang a Cúig,

Tá súil agam go bhfuil sibh go léir go maith. Anseo, tá clár ama a leagann amach obair scoile ag tosú ar an Luan 30/03/2020 go dtí an Aoine 03/ 04/ 2020.

Níor mhaith liom go mbeidh brú ar dhuine ar bith an obair seo go léir a dhéanamh, is treoir (guide) é agus tá súil agam go gcabhróidh sé libh sa bhaile.

Tá sibh tar éis an oiread sin oibre a dhéanamh ó mhí Mheáin Fómhair agus tá a fhios agam go bhfuil sibh ag obair go han-dian sa bhaile faoi láthair. Molaim go mór sibh, leanaigí oraibh ag déanamh bhur ndícheall!

Múinteoir Sorcha.

A thuismitheoirí,

I have enclosed a timetable for next week which I hope will be useful. It is based on work that we’ve been doing in class and at home throughout the year. I understand that this is a very difficult time so complete what you can.

For your information,

  • Seaimpín na dTablaí, Work it Out and Spellbound can be corrected by the parents.
  • Ideally a spelling test would be completed every Friday. (I understand that this may not suit everyone, but it creates routine)
  • Keep reading, keep practicing the spellings and tables.
  • I encourage and welcome if any student wants to send me work to correct each Friday.
  • I can be contacted each day between 11:00 – 12:00 and 14:00 – 14.30.

This is a new form of learning for all of us. By working together, I hope that we will be able to create a positive learning environment.

Mise le meas,

Múinteoir Sorcha.

Nóta beag do thuistí:

Tá súil agam go bhfuil sibh ar fad go maith ag an tráth seo. Táim chun é seo a scríobh as Béarla ar fhaitíos na míthuisceana.   Email me if you have questions. I’ll check my email each morning around 11 a.m. – any feedback is welcome! Written Irish work in Obair Ranga copybook and any English writing can be done in the Free Writing copybook.

  • This is a suggested list of what you can do at home.  Do as much as you deem advisable. The Timetable is also a suggestion! The ‘Gníomhaíochtaí’ list is to give purpose to non-academic time.
  • If you want to prioritise anything it should be tables……everything else can be caught up with relatively easily but children will be starting multiplication next year (indeed, we’ve already started doing it informally) so they need to have their addition and subtraction memorised . Don’t think that the daily exercise in Seaimpín na dTablaí is enough.  Add and subtract 1-10 to / from numbers up to 100.
  • You may wish to investigate the Twinkl site. They have also introduced a School Closure Resource section.
  • If you are already a member of a library, you can download the Borrow Box app and borrow ebooks.  I think SDCC may facilitate you even if you were not already a member i.e. they will accept membership by phone.

A thuismitheoirí, a chairde,

Tá súil agam go bhfuil sibh agus bhur dteaghlaigh go maith.

Tá an obair don tseachtain seo chugainn ceangailte leis an ríomhphost seo. Tá sé leagtha amach go laethúil, le hobair do gach lá, Luan go Aoine. Toisc go n-oibríonn páistí ar luasanna éagsúla, tá neart sa chlár ama chun cinntiú go bhfuil a dhóthain oibre ag gach dalta le déanamh. Caith ar a mhéid dhá uair a chloig ar na gníomhaíochtaí in aghaidh an lae. Tuigim nach bhfuil na páistí ach díreach ag dul i dtaithí ar seo, agus go bhfuil sibh an-ghnóthach sa bhaile faoi láthair. Dá bhrí sin, níl sé riachtanach gach uile gné den obair a chur i gcríoch, ach is féidir tús áite a thabhairt do na leabhair oibre.

Is féidir libh aon cheist a  chur orm, trí ríomhphost a sheoladh chugam. Freagróidh mé iad idir 11r.n-12 r.n agus 2-3 i.n. gach lá.

Ó thaobh ceartúcháin de, is féidir libh Seaimpín na dTáblaí  agus Skills Book E, chomh maith leis na litriú a cheartú, más mian libh. Ceartóidh mise na leabhair oibre eile amach anseo. Bheadh sé go deas grianghraf den ealaín a fháil ar ais ar ríomhphost!

I hope you and your families are keeping well during this difficult time.

Next week’s work is attached to this email. It is laid out with daily activities, as well as suggested amounts of time with which to spend on each subject. Since all children work at different speeds, I have included plenty of work in each subject to ensure that all children have sufficient work to complete.  Please spend no longer than a maximum  of two hours on these activities in any one day.  I understand that the children are still adapting to these changed circumstances and that families are likely to be extremely busy at home. Thus, I don’t expect all this work to be completed. However, I would appreciate if priority was given to the tasks in the textbooks, please.

Feel free to contact me via email with any questions or worries, however small. I will respond to emails between the hours of 11-12 and 1-2, Monday to Friday.

As regards corrections, feel free to correct your child’s Seaimpín na dTáblaí, Skills Book E, as well as their spellings, if you wish. I will correct the other work in due course. It would be lovely to receive some photographs of the art work to my email!

Of course, the main concern at this time is your family’s health and welfare. I hope our school community remains safe and well.

Go raibh míle maith agaibh.

Le meas,

Maria Ní Lochlainn

Márta 2020

A Thuismitheoirí, a chairde,

Tá súil agam go bhfuil sibh agus bhur dteaghlaigh ag coinneáil slán sábháilte.

Iniata anseo ná plean don tseachtain seo chugainn ón 30ú Márta go dtí an 3ú Aibreán. Iarraim ar na páistí cibé méid gur féidir leo a dhéanamh, ach nílim ag iarraidh go mbeadh aon duine faoi bhrú.  Níl sé riachtanach gach rud a chríochnú.  Seolfaidh mé cúpla físeán chugaibh i rith na seachtaine agus tá súil agam go mbeidh siad mar chúnamh daoibh.   Ar an Aoine más féidir libh grianghraf nó dhó a ghlacadh de na píosaí oibre is fearr leis na páistí, agus a roghnaigh siad féin, a sheoladh chugam, bheinn an-bhuíoch.  Déanfaidh me iarracht bheith ar fáil le ríomhphoist a fhreagairt idir 11.00 – 12.00 agus idir 14.30-15.00 gach lá.  Míle buíochas!

I hope that you and your families are keeping safe and well.

I have enclosed a weekly plan here for the week beginning the 30th of March. I would ask that the children complete what they can each day, as I would not like anyone to be feeling under pressure or overwhelmed. I will forward a couple of videos to you during the week, which I hope may be of some help.  It would be great if you could ask the children to select one or two pieces of their work so that you might photograph it and send to me on the Friday.    If you have any questions, I will be available via e-mail between 11.00 and 12.00 and again between 14.30 and 15.00 every day.  Many thanks!

Guím gach rath oraibh agus ar bhur dteaghlaigh.  Fanaigí Slán.

Le gach dea-ghuí

Obair Bhaile R3

A thuismitheoirí, a chairde,

Tá súil agam go bhfuil sibh uilig slán, sábhailte. Tá na laethanta seo dian ar gach duine. Bhí mé ag smaoineamh ar cad is fearr dúinn a dhéanamh chun cabhrú le na páistí foghlaim sa bhaile. Níl aon brú gach píosa den obair a théann abhaile a chríochnú, Iarrtar ar na páistí cibé méid is féidir leo a dhéanamh gach lá – beidh laethanta ann nach féidir mórán a dhéanamh agus ár dóigh tá sin ceart go leor. Nílim ag iarraidh go mbeidh aon duine faoi bhrú. Táim chun obair sheachtainiúil a chur abhaile agus é a leagan amach go laethúil. Táim chun amchlár bunúsach a thabhairt díobh. Gach seachtain beidh meascan d’obair acadúil, gníomhaíocht fhisiciúil, tascanna praiticiúla agus tascanna le spraoi a dhéanamh. Inseoidh mé díobh cad iad na gnéithe den obair a ba chóir a chur ar ais le bheith ceartaithe. Beidh sibh féin ábalta an scrúdú litriú srl a cheartú. Is féidir libh teagmháil a dhéanamh liom ar ríomhphoist le aon cheisteanna faoin obair. Beidh mé ar fáil chun bhur gceisteanna a fhreagairt ar ríomhphoist gach lá scoile idir 11:00-12:00 agus 14:30 agus 15:00. Tá Clár, Emer, Niamh agus Aogán ag obair ar phlean chun teagmháil ar ríomhphoist a choimeád le na páistí le riachtanais speisialta agus na pásití a bhfuil tacaíocht faoi leith uathu.

I hope you and your families are keeping well during this difficult time. In order to help our pupils to continue to learn and to help to give structure and routine to their day work will be sent home by e-mail each Friday. This work will include a timetable with suggested work and activities for each day Monday to Friday. Please return completed work for correction by e-mail each Friday. Each week I will explain what work I would like you to correct yourself (for example their weekly spelling test) and I will list the work that I would like e-mailed back to me for correction.

I understand how difficult this time is and that different families will have different struggles during this strange time. This work is only to help and assist you. I will completely understand if the children don’t complete all their work, please don’t worry about this. If you are feeling overwhelmed by the work or have questions, or if you would like additional work, please e-mail me, Monday-Friday between the hours 11:00-12:00 and 14:30-15:00. The resources and support teachers Clár, Emer, Niamh and Aogán will be contacting those who might need additional support at this time.

While I know the children now have a suggested timetable and textbooks, below I have added in some websites that may come in useful over the next few weeks.  Feel free to dip into them at your leisure – you don’t need to visit every site suggested.

While there are many timetable suggestions and ideas online to keep the kids busy during this unprecedented time, please don’t feel that you must follow these or think that you are not doing enough.  Do what works best for your family.  Enjoy the time together, get outside into the fresh air (while practicing safe social distancing), play games, climb trees, play football, feed the ducks etc.

I would also say that this would be a great time to practice important skills such as learning how to tie shoelaces if they can’t already do so, try their hand at baking, reading the time if they have not yet mastered it, help with small chores around the house, organise their books/toys, get creative with arts and crafts and maybe even planting seeds or a spot of gardening.

Try not to worry too much about them falling behind.  It is a very unusual situation that we find ourselves in and we will work together to get back on track as best we can when things improve.  The main things that you can do for your child is;

  1. To keep reading with them daily to maintain their level. The online “Oxford Owl” is a super collection of books. It is free of charge. Another way to keep up the reading would be to sign up with the “librariesireland.ie to read the ebooks. The site storylineonline.net has lovely read along stories.
  2. To keep them writing daily, this can be free writing, making lists, making cards/mini books etc. I find children like to write with a purpose. I am sure older family members who might be lonely at this time would really appreciate receiving a few letters from the children.
  3. To keep revising their tables daily. Play simple Maths games online (there are great Maths games on Twinkl, like ‘Mathopoly’. Useful online maths activities can be found at “hit the button” and “topmarks. This is a great opportunity to play card games and board games such as monopoly or snakes and ladders as in a fun way the children can practise adding, subtracting and counting on from maths.
  4. Don’t forget physical exercise! The Body Coach Joe Wicks is starting daily PE lessons online at 9am on his Youtube channel “The Body Coach TV”. Oti Mabuse is teaching dance lessons daily at 11:30am on her facebook page.

Best of luck,

Is mise le meas,

Cherrie Donnino.
